US

It's not my fault. Just blame the stick for my absence.

As most of you already know, I'm almost to the halfway point in my pregnancy. I've seen this little word 4 times in the last 3 years and every time I'm a bit surprised. We weren't actively trying to get pregnant, but let's be honest, I'm pretty informed and I knew it was a possibility. I just didn't think it would actually happen! Our patience, stamina and whole way of living has been tested. I've been sick and until about 3 weeks ago, I vomited at least once a day, usually more. But I'm starting to feel well enough to function, just not in the kitchen. All is going well and I've been feeling the little beebs move for about 2 weeks. We will be finding out the gender mid-February and you'll be the first to know. Even on the ickiest days, we're excited and know that God's plans are always better than our own.

Avery has developed into a little girl overnight. It's not even accurate to call her my little beebs. She is talking ALL THE TIME and understands every last word I say to her. And praise the Lord, she has been weaned for a month! This means that I actually get a break for awhile before I start nursing the baby. Her sleep has changed dramatically and for several weeks she has enjoyed getting 10-12 hours of uninterrupted rest. She is rested, intelligent and sassy.....sassy is a problem. I find myself disciplining her regularly everyday and it's not fun. We're having issues with rocks in particular.

W: "Avery, do not put rocks in your mouth. You can hold them or put them in your bucket."
A: Nods and says yes. Then runs away laughing and puts the rock in her mouth.
W: Head starts spinning and green bile shoots out of mouth.

Not really, but you get the idea. Children misbehave. Such is life. She is growing like a weed and is the sweetest thing ever. Can't wait to see her with her new brother/sister.

The house is coming along very slowly. Me being sick, the holidays and an energetic toddler have put us behind schedule. We want some major projects finished before the baby arrives. One of the most important aspects of my homebirth is having an organized and comfortable home and right now, neither of us is comfortable in our construction zone. Barry is dominating the hardwood floor in the guest room this weekend. It is sanded and ready for a pretty stain.
