“Calendar Time” was a new addition to my plan only last week. So many folks do it and it made sense, although it is tedious for mama! We go over the calendar, day of the week, do a weather observation {she usually says “Mama, I see blueness and hotness”}, repeat our address, phone number and 911 instructions and then pray for the person listed on our prayer calendar for the day.
- Reading: Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons
- Math: Rod and Staff Numbers Workbook
- Science: Christian Liberty Nature Reader, Fun with Nature and Planet Earth DVD {thanks, Pappy!}
- Poetry: A Child’s Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson
- Bible/Character Traits: Child’s Book of Character Building and Christian Heroes for Young Readers and a chapter per night out of Psalms.
- Art: Come Look With Me series
- Physical Education: Gymnastics! {Dedicated post coming soon}
- General: Brainquest Pre-K Workbook and a variety of fun handwriting worksheets
- Literature: A variety of book that I chose with the help of Read for the Heart. We are also renting many from the library like usual. A new series we like is Angelina Ballerina. Cute little mouse!
We’ve only been at it for 3 days, but it has gone so well. I am so glad I pushed myself to organize a small space in Henry’s room to work. It is making all the difference in the world from last year to have a dedicated space. I DO NOT like doing school time at the dining table. Here is a tour!
